Course Description

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent to work as an administrator or project officer. This individual would use well developed skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.


On successful completion of this course the student would be awarded BBSB60215 Advanced Diploma of Business which is nationally recognised qualification. This could help student gain entry into career paths or higher education in Business stream.

Mode and Method of Delivery

The method of delivery includes classroom based theory and practical training sessions. A simulated workplace environment may be created, if required through individual and group activities and practical tasks in both delivery and assessment where students will be facilitated to develop skills and knowledge to fulfil the requirements for each competency unit and its elements. Units can be delivered either as a standalone or clustered unit. Some portfolio or other assessments may provide evidence of overall competency in more than one unit. Students will be advised of this where applicable.


Assessment processes cover a broad range of skills and knowledge needed to demonstrate competency and will integrate knowledge and skills with their practical application. All Assessments of units of competence will be conducted according to the assessment guidelines and competency standards of the official Training Package for this qualification.

Students will be required to perform in a range of areas including and not limited to: Short Answer Test, Case Study, Presentation, Practical Demonstration, Computer based activities and Written Examinations etc.

Course Length

This course will be delivered over a 52 week period of full time study (including course delivery, assessment, public holidays and break).

Entry Requirements (International Students)


  • Successful completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent or;
  • Completion of Certificate IV or higher qualification[s]or;
  • All students must be over 18 years of age before they can commence this course.

English Language Proficiency

  • Applicants must either have successfully completed General English at Upper Intermediate Level at IIB or another approved provider or equivalent or;
  • Attained IELTS 5.5 with no sub-band scores less than 5.0 or equivalent;
  • or any achievements stated in the table below is also acceptable:

Applicants who are unable to meet the English Proficiency requirements for the course they can be enrol in our English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS). Upon successfully completing the ELICOS and meeting other requirements they can than be streamlined to enrol in our Diploma courses.

Eligibility Requirements (Domestic Students)

English Language

The applicant must have sufficient proficiency in English to be able to work successfully in a highly communicative environment.

For domestic full fee paying students, IIB will accept payment of no more than $1000 from each individual student prior to the commencement of the course. Following course commencement, IIB may require payment of additional fees in advance from the student but only such that at any given time, the total amount required to be paid which is attributable to tuition or other services yet to be delivered to the student does not exceed $1,500.

Skill Recognition/Credit Transfers

Students may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) by providing evidence that they have the required skills and knowledge in the specific areas of competency through work /industry experience and/or completed eligible assessments in an equivalent or higher qualification.

Appropriate credit transfer may be granted to eligible students against each unit of competency on evidence to successful completion of the same unit in an equivalent or higher nationally endorsed qualification.

Students with credit transfers will finish the course in a shorter duration and are advised to consult appropriate authorities/bodies for applicable criteria if they are planning further study or stay in Australia.

They may oversee the work of others or have specialised roles where they do not supervise others but provide strategic leadership.
